
and eat cold meals at 10 at night just to help people we have never met, but it is the most rewarding feeling you will ever feel. I loved being part of this organization and doing so much for our community that I convinced my brother to join 10 years ago, and we rode together for years.After 16 years of active service, I decided to retire from riding, but I just couldn’t stay away. I may not ride much anymore, but I still stay active by serving on committees, holding an office, and I plan all our social events. You can still see me riding every once in a while, and at most events we cover. Once you join this organization, it’s really hard to stay away.As a long-time member, I have watched many friendships form and many relationships develop. I have watched members get married, become parents, nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors, and great EMTs, but most of all, friends. "Hi, I’m Dara and my journey at FLVAC started in Feb 1998. A friend wanted to join the ambulance corps and asked if I would go with her. We went through school together and became EMTs. Unfortunately, she had another path, but I was hooked. Here I am 26 years later, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The members at FLVAC are like a 2nd family; we strive to make a difference in each other’s lives and the lives of our community. We support each other in good times and in bad. We leave our warm beds in the middle of the night, loved ones at family gatherings,
