"“Volunteers Wanted” Those were the words that launched my career at the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the start of becoming a member of the Emergency Medical Services community. During my interview and orientation process it became clear to me that this work was not for the faint of heart. We would see people potentially at the worst moment of their life and some of them could be our friends and neighbors but we would be there to HELP and comfort them and their families. Truly NEIGHBOR HELPING
NEIGHBOR! I have worked in the not for profit field for my entire career and thoroughly respect the role of our volunteers in achieving the mission of the organization. We take time away from family during the day/night and weekends. It does not matter the weather or the road conditions we GO when there is a need for us.
FLVAC is truly my second family. I have made lifelong friends! We all have the same dedication and passion. We enjoy participating in community-wide events such as the Memorial Day Parade, July 4 Fireworks, and so much more.
We also continue to hone our skills to ensure that we are up to date on the most current aspects of emergency care for the residents of Fair Lawn.
Our greatest challenge today is INCREASING our volunteer membership, especially for those who are available during the weekdays. There is no doubt in my mind that you will find this to be the most meaningful volunteer experience of your life!
Join me on the ambulance!
